Special Opportunity to the Island's West End

The Garden invites you to join us for this unprecedented opportunity to visit the West End of Santa Cruz Island and see the spectacular wildflower blooms. This year, Santa Cruz Island has received an incredible amount of rainfall which is sure to lead to an amazing display of flowers. Participants can expect to see goldfields (Lasthenia gracilis), Santa Cruz Island liveforever (Dudlyea nesiotica), succulent lupine (Lupinus succulentus), San Miguel locoweed (Astragalus miguelensis), checker bloom (Sidalcea malviflora) and many more!

This incredible day trip will be led by island expert, Steve Junak. We will depart from Ventura Harbor and do a skiff landing at Forney's Cove.

NOTE: Participants should be in good physical condition with good balance.

Participants should bring:

  • Sturdy tennis shoes
  • Layered clothing
  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Binoculars
  • Camera
  • Waterbottles to hold a full day's worth of water
  • Lunch and snacks
