For its fifth year, the Wine and Cheese Botanic Lecture Series is bringing together the local scientific community for talks about Santa Barbara ecology, ancient horticultural methods, and wine tastings from local wineries.

Picture of Dr. Christy BrighamDr. Brigham will provide an evening of science storytelling about biodiversity conservation in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area including true tales of why the wrentit won't cross the road, how our coyotes prefer fruit to cats and dogs; how our endangered microflora is impacted by invasive weeds, and wrapping up with ten simple things you can do in your yard to preserve our biodiversity hotspot.  

    Christy Brigham was raised in the pea and lentil capital of the world where she learned to love nature.  She studied science at The Evergreen State College in Washington and received her PhD in ecology from the University of California-Davis.  Christy has worked for the NPS in the Santa Monica Mountains for the past 12 years.
