Native plants are the foundation of a healthy ecosystem. Garden Grounds Manager Stephanie Ranes will lead a walking tour of the Garden to discuss and identify what makes a good habitat for our local insects, birds, and animals. Discover how you can better attract them to your garden using natives plants and natural features for the home gardener. Topics include: resources to building the garden, identifying what each animal group needs, and garden management.


Image of Stephanie RanesStephanie Ranes is the Garden's Grounds Manager and former co-owner of Sage and Willow California Gardens, a landscape company in Santa Barbara focusing on California native plants and drought tolerant landscapes. Prior to running her own business, she was a gardener at the Garden where she developed her knowledge and appreciation of native plants. She holds an Associate degree from SBCC in Horticulture and volunteers when she can with Channel Islands Restoration doing environmental restoration locally and on the Islands.
