Bring the Wild Inside

Are you looking for a way to enjoy native plants both outside and in? Learn the basics of flower arrangement and experiment with different greens and flowers to create your own native arrangements to take home. Garden Propagation Manager, Heather Wehnau, will start with a basic overview of which plants are in season for cutting. Then, you'll head out to collect materials throughout the Garden and create arrangements in the Courtyard between the Shop and Nursery.

Please bring 1-3 vases or mason jars and your favorite garden shears.

Image of Heather Wehnau-FederleinHeather Wehnau-Federlein is a transplant from Upstate New York, where she received her B.A. in Plant Science, Ornamental Horticulture at Cornell University. She has worked in the nursery and landscaping industry for over 21 years, in addition to sidelining in landscape design and drought tolerant lawn conversions. She moved to CA in 2002 and has been at the Garden since 2007. Her training & interests include permaculture, native plants, edible plants, forest farming and urban farming, IPM, various arts and crafts, and as much exposure to the outdoors as possible. Her responsibilities at the Garden include growing plants for the living collection, contract growing, and overseeing in house plant propagation for the retail nursery.
