3-week course: How to work with nature in your garden, no matter where you live

Class will meet on July 11, 18, and 25 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm

You will:

  • Learn how to conduct a site analysis
  • Understand how soil, exposure, weather, and otherfactors affect plant choice
  • Explore which California native plants will thrive in your garden
  • Design your own a sustainable landscape

Course includes the Landscape for Life manual, and uses our native plant Garden as a living classroom.

Landscape for Life is co-taught by Landscape Designer Anne McInerney and SBBG Director of Education Frederique Lavoipierre, former director of the Sonoma State University sustainable landscape certificate program. Guest instructors include Landscape Architect Kim True (, Cathie Paré, Santa Barbara WaterWise Water Resources Specialist, and SBBG Horticulturist Bruce Reed.
