Begin the New Year as a member of our Docent Training class and learn much about California's native plants, ecology, and wildlife. You'll learn to lead tours and special programs for schoolchildren and other Garden visitors, and you'll soon be ready to share your knowledge with great enthusiasm.
Join our team, meet new friends, and help us teach about the wonders of the natural world!
Required Orientation: Date: Wednesday, January 26, 10:00 a.m. - noon Location: Botanic Garden Blaksley Library
Interviews will be conducted before classes begin, so please bring your personal calendar to the orientation.
Docent Training Classes: Wednesdays, February 16- June 1, 9:00 a.m. - noon; Graduation June 8th.
Topics will include the following: Basic Botany Plant Families Pollination California Plant Communities: * Chaparral and Coastal Sage Scrub * California Forests * Grasslands and Oak Woodlands * Deserts Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecology Native American Uses of Plants Uses of Native Plants in the Home Garden Local Wildlife and Geology
