Did you know there are over 1600 species of native bees in California, pollinating thousands of species of native plants? Come meet a few of our favorites in this presentation by Director of Education, Frederique Lavoipierre.


Frederique Lavoipierre, Director of EducationFrederique Lavoipierre is the Director of Education at the Garden. In addition to teaching at the Garden, she also gives presentations on many aspects of sustainable landscaping, including ecological principles and practices, habitat gardens, beneficial insects, soil ecology, and on fresh-water ecology and aquatic invertebrates. One of her special interests is how to use the techniques of conservation biological control (CBC) to reduce pesticide use, leading to cleaner water and healthier ecosystems.
