Led by artist Kate Davis, guest instructors present their preferred style of nature journaling with guided work time for you to explore their style or create your own on Garden grounds. Learn about the traditional Grinnell method, literary, photographic, sketching, and creative styles for recordeing your observations of nature. This class is designed to introduce students to a wide variety of nature journaling styles and facilitate the journaling process.

Bring your journal and join our inspiring presenters! 

Highly recommended as a concurrent class for California Naturalists.

Image of Kate Davis, Education Programs CoordinatorKate Davis, the Garden's Interpretation and Evaluation Coordinator, holds a BA in Art with a minor in Education and an MS in Free-Choice Learning Science Education with an emphasis on conservation education. Through her art, classes, public outreach, and interpretation, Kate works to bridge the gap between science and art and connect you to the wonders of the natural world. Her greeting cards, mugs, and a coloring book of her botanical illustrations inspired by the beautiful diversity of California's native wildflowers is available exclusively in the Garden Shop. Her paintings are also featured on the educational panels in the recently renovated Water Wise Home Garden at the Garden.
