An Unlikely Fundraising Team

This Halloween, the Garden will wrap up the Community Gifts portion of their multi-year comprehensive Seed the Future campaign.  The fundraising team for Community Gifts consists mostly of volunteer docents, with no fundraising experience, many of whom had once been part of a volunteer strike at the Garden.  But today, they are just a few thousand dollars away from reaching their goal of raising $100,000 in small gifts from the community and winning a matching gift from the Mericos Foundation.  At least one of these volunteers counts a Halloween party three years ago as part of her journey

$100,000 Challenge Gift

September 18, 2014

The Mericos Foundation has awarded the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden a matching gift of $100,000 to inspire community giving for the last phase of the comprehensive Seed the Future campaign. Over $13.5 million of the campaign’s $14 million goal has been raised to build facilities, plant new gardens, and create exhibit areas to enhance the Garden's ability to foster a love of native plants through conservation, research and education.

Free Admission to Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

On Saturday, September 27th The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden will open its doors, free of charge, to visitors with a Museum Day Live ticket.  This annual event allows visitors to access over 1000 museums nationwide in the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission every day.

 The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Fall Native Plant Sale begins the last weekend of September, the perfect time to replace drought stricken lawns and gardens with native plants. Throughout October, speakers, classes, and informational workshops will provide resources to make your home gardens thrive.  With more than 6,000 plants and 400 different varieties to choose from, you won’t find a larger selection between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
