August 16 & September 20

For its fourth year, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden's Wine and Cheese Botanic Lecture Series is bringing together the local scientific community for talks about Santa Barbara ecology, ancient horticultural methods, sharks, and much more.  Each lecture begins with delicious appetizers, a wine tasting, and conversation with one of our local sponsoring vintners in the Garden’s Courtyard.

Max Moritz, UC Berkeley: What do we know about the ecological implications of living so close to nature? Invasive species, wildfires, and habitat loss are just some of the issues that make Santa Barbara an ideal laboratory for learning how to coexist with natural hazards under a changing climate.

5th Annual Trails ‘n’ Tails Event: August 23

Garden visitors will receive one free admission per leashed dog to enjoy a number of exciting doggie activities!

Landscape for Life: 5-week course, October 14 - November 11

How to work with nature in your garden - classes will meet on October 14, 21 & 28, November 4 & 11

Our newest certificate program was developed at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. Five classes cover all aspects of sustainable landscape, including soil and water resources, plant choices, design and installation. Focus on the use of native plants in drought-tolerant, ecologically healthy home gardens. Learn More
